Career Week was an activity in which 11th-grade students participated from February 17 to 21, with the goal of gaining hands-on exposure to the professional and academic world, helping them make informed decisions about their future. The combination of internships or job shadowing experiences in companies, along with visits to various universities across the country provided them with a comprehensive view of the available options.
As part of this initiative, a group of 75 students, accompanied by five members of the High School staff, had the opportunity to visit several universities in Bogotá, including Universidad de los Andes, Universidad del Rosario, and Pontificia Universidad Javeriana de Bogotá, among others.
During these visits, students participated in informational talks featuring testimonies from current students, as well as sessions with faculty members and campus tours. They were able to gain in-depth knowledge about different institutions and life in the capital, exploring its climate, gastronomy, transportation, and cultural scene. This experience could play a key role in their decision-making process for the future.
For the rest of the week, each student engaged in a hands-on experience at a company or with a professional in their field of interest. Alongside these experts, students not only actively participated in workdays but also conducted interviews, kept a journal of their experiences, and completed an evaluation and reflection on what they had learned.
Overall, it was an enriching week in which students explored various professional fields, ranging from design and art to finance and healthcare. Thanks to the accessibility of these opportunities, 11th-grade students were able to better prepare themselves to face key decisions regarding their academic and professional future.
