Colegio Bolívar has been accredited by AdvancED – COGNIA, the world’s largest accrediting body for educational institutions. AdvancED – COGNIA accredits 36,000 educational institutions in 90 countries, maintaining the highest standards of educational quality.
The School welcomed Cognia’s Engagement Review Team at the end of October 2023. This school accreditation allows for the improvement of educational quality and promotes continuous improvement.
Based on a set of rigorous standards backed by research, the accreditation process examines all aspects of the institution: the academic program, the cultural context, and the community of stakeholders, with the aim of determining how these parties work together to meet the needs of students.
Trained evaluators analyze the quality of the learning environment to obtain information and guide improvements in both teaching and learning, as well as in the overall functioning of the institution.
All Cognia Accreditation teams focus on two main areas: Institutional Analysis Assessment, which involves collecting data and information for subsequent analysis and synthesis in order to implement improvement actions; and Performance Standards Assessment Results, which evaluate the institution’s ability to meet the expectations defined by Cognia.
On this occasion, Cognia’s perspective has evolved toward a more student-centered approach, which is clearly aligned with contemporary trends in education.
The Cognia Team was so impressed with our Community that they created a video showing their observations in the classrooms at our School, along with our song “Be Bolivar.”
We should feel very proud of our School and remain committed to continuous improvement, knowing that, as Cognia’s motto says, “Knowledge is opportunity.”

All Cognia Accreditation teams focus on two main areas:
In this category, the school scored above the system average in six of the seven categories evaluated, achieving the same score as the system average in one category. This process involves collecting data and information for subsequent analysis and synthesis, with the aim of implementing improvement measures.
In this regard, the school exceeded the Cognia Network average in each of the four groups of standards. This area assesses the school’s ability to meet the expectations defined by Cognia.
Cognia provides an Education Quality Index (IEQ) as a holistic measure of overall performance. Colegio Bolívar earned an IEQ score of 336, compared to the Cognia IEQ network average of 253 for the 2022/23 school year.
