The Sustainability and Biodiversity Festival, an event that will take place from October 21st to November 1st, will serve as a platform for reflection and action around biodiversity conservation and ecosystem services. This festival aligns with the Sustainability goal of our Strategic Plan and the context of COP16, which will be held in the city of Cali. It is our school’s way of integrating into a large-scale civic initiative, aligning with global and local policies to combat climate change.
This festival will include an academic, cultural, and environmental agenda that will offer educational and community integration experiences focused on valuing and protecting our diverse ecosystem. These include:
School Project Exhibitions: Around the campus, spaces will be set up to celebrate the learnings around themes such as biodiversity, climate action, aquatic life, terrestrial ecosystems, affordable energy, and responsible production and consumption, among others. We will have displays of posters, photographs, comic strips, experiments, models, videos, oral presentations, and educational exchanges between students from different grade levels.
Outdoor Learning: Some grades will be visiting eco-parks in the Pance area to experience nature and interpret the richness of the environment. Other projects will enjoy mobile labs for interpreting biodiversity within the school campus.
Volunteers at the Green Zone – The People’s COP: Five twelfth-grade students will be volunteers at the Boulevard del Río, taking on logistics tasks, managing registrations, space assignments, and attending to visitors. Their contribution, leadership, and commitment will be highly significant in this space for civic participation and environmental education.
Cultural Assemblies: Children will enjoy the play *”El frailejón y la montaña”* by the Petit theater group. Middle and high school students will attend a musical performance by Mr. Klaje’s band.
Green Business Exhibition: The green business exhibition will be located outside the Martin Felton Library on October 22, 23, and 24 from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. This activity is designed as a learning experience about production and commercialization models committed to social development and environmental protection.
