High School at Colegio Bolívar: A Path to Academic and University Excellence
At Colegio Bolívar, our students from Grades 9 to 12 (ages 14 to 18) receive high-level education that enables them to earn a double diploma: the Colombian High School Diploma and the United States High School Diploma. Thanks to a flexible and rigorous curriculum, they can customize their academic program with advanced courses and electives that prepare them for admission to top universities.
Our academic approach fosters analytical thinking and covers key subjects such as Spanish and English, science, mathematics, social studies, philosophy, technology, and physical education. Additionally, we offer electives in arts, music, performing arts, Model UN, journalism, sports, economics, business, and environmental studies, allowing students to explore their talents and passions.
Support for University
Future
Starting from Grade 9, our university guidance program helps students and their families through the university admission process both in Colombia and abroad. We offer assistance with applications and preparation for exams like SAT, ACT, ICFES, and TOEFL, as well as guidance on scholarships and financing. Through workshops, university fairs, College Night, Professional Week, and university visits, students receive personalized support to make informed decisions about their future.
Between 25% and 40% of our graduates study abroad, primarily in the U.S. Those who stay in Colombia mostly choose Bogotá, with 15% opting for exchange or language programs before starting university.
Advanced Placement (AP) Program: University-level courses with the option to earn credits in both the U.S. and Colombia. We offer AP in English, Spanish, biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, computing, and art.
AP Capstone Diploma: An additional recognition that strengthens students’ academic profiles for university applications.
Senior Project: A research project where students develop critical thinking, research, and presentation skills essential for university life.
Academic Distinctions: We recognize student excellence through the Honor Roll and Dean’s List. Additionally, 11th and 12th graders can be part of the National Honor Society, a prestigious international organization that rewards leadership, service qualities, and character.
At Colegio Bolívar, we prepare students to face global challenges with an education that drives them to reach their full potential.
At Colegio Bolívar, the formation of our Secondary students (Grades 9 to 12) goes beyond academics. We focus on their socio-emotional well-being, personal development, and leadership, within a safe and respectful environment.
We believe in working closely with families. That’s why we organize regular meetings such as “Coffee with the Director,” where parents receive key information and can share concerns in a collaborative environment. We also hold workshops for parents throughout the year, strengthening mutual support in the students’ education.
Personalized Counseling: Two counselors support students in their socio-emotional and academic development, addressing topics such as prevention, values, and autonomy.
Conscious Discipline®: A self-regulation-based discipline approach aligned with our 2022-2026 Strategic Plan, providing emotional tools for teachers, parents, and students.
Safe Environment: We promote respect, zero tolerance for bullying, and healthy coexistence, fostering an inclusive and supportive community.
Social Commitment: Through the Global Issues Network (GIN) elective, our students lead social and environmental impact projects within their community.
Sports and Competitions: Participation in sporting events fosters discipline, fair play, and teamwork, essential for their integral development.
Character and Autonomy: Through value formation, leadership, and decision-making spaces, we guide students in their personal growth and preparation for university and professional life.
At Colegio Bolívar, we form students with a global vision, strong in values, and ready to face future challenges.
