Preprimary

Teaching revolves around learning centers and small group work, with activities carefully selected to match the children’s developmental stage.

The mother tongue is strengthened with a curriculum that provides the necessary tools to acquire a second language and reinforce bilingual communication, both socially and academically.

Our pedagogical approach is based on the Ontario Program — a play-based methodology that allows children to develop essential 21st-century skills, such as inquiry, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, creativity, character, and critical thinking.

Academic

Focus

Dynamic and Meaningful Learning

At Colegio Bolívar, the Preprimary section (Kinder 4, Kinder 5, and Grade 1) offers a warm and stimulating environment where children learn through play, explore their creativity, and develop essential 21st-century skills like critical thinking and inquiry.

Following the renowned Ontario Program, our bilingual curriculum integrates math, science, art, physical education, and values into meaningful experiences, supported by two teachers per classroom and active learning spaces like the library, gym, and Atelier.

The Preprimary section serves approximately 315 students. Each classroom typically has 18 to 20 students, with a maximum of 22, and there are five class groups per grade.

We promote strong connections with families through regular gatherings like “Coffee with the Principal,” where we share updates and listen to parents.

In Preprimary, each child is the protagonist of their learning journey, receiving the support needed to reach their full potential through our co-teaching model and Learning Support Services program. We also foster innovation through STEM challenges (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), sustainability through campus-based experiences, and socio-emotional wellbeing using play-based methodologies.

All of this is framed within the Deeper Learning approach, understood as the transfer of knowledge and skills from the classroom context to real-life situations.

At Colegio Bolívar, we go beyond education—we provide children with a strong foundation for the future, combining knowledge, exploration, and values in an inspiring environment.

Socio-emotional

Approach

Growing with Confidence and Empathy

At Colegio Bolívar, we understand that the early school years are key for children’s social and emotional development. As they grow, they learn to share, make group decisions, and resolve conflicts proactively.

That’s why we foster respectful, trusting, and community-based relationships through the Conscious Discipline® program, which promotes self-regulation and socio-emotional learning in alignment with our Wellbeing Purpose. We also hold emotional connection sessions, community circles, and experiential activities such as field trips and bonding events, which reinforce integration and environmental exploration.

Our students also take part in leadership and service projects, strengthening their empathy and social commitment through experiences with sister schools. In addition, we offer support spaces for parents to better understand their children’s developmental process.

In Preprimary, we prepare children for life by helping them build healthy relationships, work in teams, and face challenges with confidence and empathy.
