Young Authors Explore the City: Urban Literature Project in 11th Grade

In an inspiring literary creation exercise, the 11th-grade students of the Spanish and Literature course, under the guidance of teacher Carmen Helena Moncada, brought to life an extraordinary project culminating in the publication of a collection of short stories that capture the essence of urban life in Cali.

During the Urban Literature thematic unit, the young authors delved into the nuances of city narratives, exploring characters, settings, and issues intrinsic to contemporary urban living. The reading of Los desterrados, a novel written by alumnus Julián Chang, along with the in-depth analysis of narrative elements, formed part of the creative process, which was further enriched by feedback and revision sessions.

The result is a book that not only represents a remarkable academic achievement but also serves as an authentic testimony of youthful perspectives interpreting and reimagining their surroundings. Each story offers a window into the urban experience, blending sensitivity, critique, and creativity.

We congratulate our students on this accomplishment, which demonstrates the transformative power of literature and celebrates their ability to observe and narrate the world around them.
